Job Description
An excellent opportunity has opened for an experienced veterinarian to join a highly regarded, privately owned small animal hospital in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
This AAHA-accredited practice operates from a brand-new, purpose-built facility designed to support high-quality medicine while ensuring doctors can work efficiently and enjoy genuine work-life balance. The hospital has built a reputation for exceptional staff longevity, a collaborative culture, and a leadership team that truly values the autonomy and professional judgment of its veterinarians.
You’ll be joining a well-established clinical team supported by an outstanding staff structure, including an on-site Certified Veterinary Practice Manager and experienced team leads who help ensure the hospital runs smoothly day-to-day. With an impressive 5:1 staff-to-doctor ratio, doctors are able to focus on medicine rather than administrative tasks, with technicians assisting heavily with documentation and case flow. The practice is fully paperless and equipped with advanced diagnostics, including a full in-house lab, digital radiography, digital dental radiographs, ultrasound, Class IV therapeutic lasers, and visiting specialists for advanced procedures. The hospital also benefits from acupuncture services on staff and a nearby rehabilitation/physical therapy facility for extended patient care.
Scheduling is intentionally designed to promote both productivity and sustainability. Full-time doctors typically work an average 3.5-day week with 9-hour shifts—amounting to fewer than 180 working days per year. Doctors enjoy built-in long weekends each month, protected lunch breaks, and minimal Saturday commitments. There are no overnight shifts, no emergency duties, and no on-call responsibilities, allowing veterinarians to maintain a healthy work-life balance while still seeing a varied and rewarding caseload. The case mix includes roughly 50% wellness and 50% sick visits, with a predominantly canine patient base.
The hospital is structured to allow experienced doctors to practice their preferred style of medicine with the appropriate level of support, making it an excellent fit for veterinarians seeking both professional autonomy and a well-run clinical environment.
