Job Description
Associate Veterinarian role at an established small animal hospital in Sacramento, CA, offering autonomy, continuity, and support.
This is an established GP who has served the area for decades and sees a steady mix of wellness, medical, surgical, and urgent care cases for dogs and cats. The caseload is consistent and predictable, with real continuity of care rather than one-off visits. Doctors are expected to manage their own cases from intake through resolution, not pass them along unless it truly makes sense.
The hospital practices practical, thorough medicine. Diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry are a regular part of the day. Doctors have the autonomy to manage cases as they believe is medically appropriate, with support from experienced technicians and staff who know their roles and keep the hospital running smoothly. Leadership is hands-on and local, with clear expectations and regular communication around hospital priorities and standards.
This role is best suited for a veterinarian who is comfortable in a busy general practice environment and wants to stay clinically engaged. You’ll work closely with management but retain control over your medical decisions. Scheduling flexibility is available, and compensation is structured without negative accrual or restrictive non-compete language.
