We’re partnering with a forward-thinking veterinary group that’s redefining what emergency medicine can look like.
Their Encinitas location is a modern, 3,000 sq. ft. emergency hospital equipped with multiple exam rooms, advanced surgical suites, spacious treatment areas, and a welcoming staff break room designed to promote balance and recovery between shifts.
This is a rare opportunity to lead as an Executive Medical Director (EMD) in a culture that values clinical autonomy, mentorship, and operational excellence. You’ll work closely with a dedicated Hospital Manager and a passionate team of ER professionals who are deeply committed to patient care and collaboration.
The hospital operates as part of a growing network that provides local flexibility with national-level support, allowing you to shape the medical direction while still having the backing of a larger infrastructure. We are looking for an EMD to join the team on a 3 shift per week pattern with a. mixture of days/swings/nights available with flexibility to suit you!
The incoming EMD will have oversight of hospital operations, clinical standards, and DVM mentorship, while still remaining hands-on in clinical practice. This role is ideal for a confident, experienced ER veterinarian who thrives in leadership and wants to build something lasting and meaningful.

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold (or are eligible for) a licensure in California
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in practice, including at least 3 years in emergency medicine
• 3+ years of leadership experience with operational or P&L exposure
• A driven, collaborative leader who thrives in a dynamic, growth-focused environment
• Salary range: $250,000–$300,000 + production bonus
