Job Description
We are working with a privately owned, integrative small animal general practice in Doylestown, PA that is looking for a Relief Veterinarian to join the team on an ongoing basis.
This is a thoughtful, holistic minded hospital housed in a converted historic farmhouse, where medicine is practiced with a deliberately conservative approach to vaccines, antibiotics, and pharmaceuticals, and many clients embrace raw diets, acupuncture, and other integrative modalities.
The relief role is built around straightforward general practice and urgent care appointments in 30 minute slots, with no surgery required and no overnight hospitalization, so you can focus purely on seeing patients.
The practice refers out anything beyond routine GP work or that requires intensive care, giving you the freedom to practice without the pressure of handling every case in house.
You will be supported by certified veterinary technicians and technician assistants, and will work alongside a small, close knit team that values collaboration between conventional and holistic minded doctors.
This is a great fit for a relief veterinarian who is open minded about integrative medicine, comfortable with client choices around raw feeding and alternative modalities, and looking for a consistent, ongoing relief schedule with genuine flexibility around days worked.
- Ongoing relief role with flexible scheduling built around your availability
- Straightforward GP and urgent care appointments only, no surgery required
- 30 minute appointment slots with no expectation to handle emergencies in house
- No overnight hospitalization, and a liberal referral culture for advanced or intensive cases
- Supportive, holistic minded practice with a thoughtful approach to vaccines and medications
- Small, collegial team including certified veterinary technicians and technician assistants
- Recently upgraded digital radiography and ongoing investment in equipment
- Historic farmhouse setting with a warm, close knit clinical environment
- DVM or equivalent degree with an active or eligible Pennsylvania license
- Comfortable managing general practice and urgent care caseloads in 30 minute appointments
- Open minded about holistic and integrative medicine, including raw diets and acupuncture
- Willing to collaborate with holistic practitioners and follow a conservative prescribing philosophy
- Available for two or more shifts per week on an ongoing basis
- Reliable and communicative, comfortable stepping into an established team
- Competitive, negotiable day rate based on experience
- Flexible shift scheduling built around your availability
- No surgery or on call responsibilities
- Supportive technician team assisting with every appointment
- Straightforward GP caseload with liberal referral support for advanced cases
- Opportunity to build an ongoing, long term relief relationship
